With BA4 almost upon us, I figured that I would take the time to share with you my plans for the farm this year. We have had a track record over the years of hosting an event then going a couple months before another game is booked and usually the forums are ripe with "We need a game" posts. Well, plan to go through some bb's this year ladies! I'm just going to plan on having a game every third Sunday of the month starting in May. I'll put up a schedule of dates, ranging from themed events to open play shenanigans in advance so that you can plan accordingly. If no one wants to open play that Sunday, no prob I'll just spend the day working on the field. I'm going to break down a few things by subject below,
*** I recognize that people will want to host events at other locations and I hope they do. My intentions is not to step on others, but to take the initiative and make sure we have an eventful year instead of sitting around and waiting for someone to host a game. Nothing says we can only have one game a month folks, some of you little weirdo's would play every weekend if you could.
*** I'm not the only one going to be hosting games, if you or your group have an event idea and want to have it there, then by all means get intouch with me and we will work on making it happen.
*** After BA4 I will be asking a small fee for attending games, it won't be much because I know us West Virginians are some poor bastards. The reason for this isn't for my own personal gain, but the money will be put to use in purchasing upgrades for the field. The roads need new gravel, I need to get electric and plumbing re installed, props, I want to eventually replace the debris that we have been re purposing with sand bags and other building supplies. I also would like to put some money in the hands of the landowner to cover property taxes since they are nice and letting us play there. In the long run, my girlfriend and I are wanting to put a house out there and this place will end up being my own little personal military playground. So there will be constant building, tearing down, moving things around so that it stays fresh.
*** Future game ideas, well we have a few game ideas that we plan on putting into motion this year and some of the themed events will be held on a yearly basis, so you can start putting together era appropriate gear and know that you will get to use your investment. Ok let me explain that, we will have plenty of events and open plays where you can wear your uber cool, cyber space camo and carry your bullpup pulse rifle. Yet we plan to have some era themed events where you will be prompted to use era specific gear, now we won't turn you away because you do not have the money to drop on all this stuff. This isn't some reenactment group, so we will put up some cost efficient alternatives that will get you in the game looking cool.
*** What kind of ideas you ask? Well we will be having a Vietnam themed game this summer, a classic Cold War event in the fall/early winter and yes folks......this October we will be having the first annual West Virginia Airsoft Halloween event! Where you can wear costumes and play in some fun scenarios and possibly even a zombie scenario.
I'll keep you posted on things as they develop and once we finish up a few things I'll start posting some pics of the field.
