I went out today and walked the field in Fort Gay to check out the condition of the land and overall it's in better shape then I remembered from the one time I had visited a couple years ago, but it still requires a good amount of work. The land has sat abandoned for years and riff raff had been dumping old cars, trucks and even boats of various sizes. Just a couple of months ago my family evicted some squatters that had taken up residence down there and it appears that they have since returned and burned down their little shanty house that was there plus hauled off all the vehicles and boats in their scrap metal frenzy. They even dragged the old semi out of there, never underestimate crack head ingenuity.
So with the exception of losing the cool old Mack truck, I'm not sad to see the other crap gone. Yes, I had planned on using them as props, but I did not look forward to dragging them into place and the old boats worried me due to safety concerns. There is however quite a bit of debris that needs cleaned up, the amount of busted glass in several areas concerns me and will take time to get rid of.
The drive in is long but thankfully only a couple of turns, so it should be easy to give directions to players. I'm not releasing the location just yet other than it's in Fort Gay West Virginia. When we get the gate fixed and marked I'll release the location and the Google Earth photo. a word of warning though, the farm is at the end of a road that is....umm...special. Ok, it's downright scary . Burned down and abandoned houses line the street and the houses that are there probably have meth labs in them. The good news is that we are at the end of the road and you will be able to pull your vehicles down out of sight into the field where we can keep an eye on them.
Here is some pics, keep in mind the debris needs cleaned up and also I did not walk everywhere today. I stayed on the main paths and atv trails, there is roughly 80 acres at our disposal.
