For all you guys out there who want to play the bad guys at airsoft events, here is a few ideas to get you out in the field looking badass.
The way I see it there is basically two forms of OP4 loadouts, the organized professional army/merc group and the mismatched rebel group. Really there is no set rules for making a bad guy loadout, just try to stay away from popular NATO themed uniforms from countries like the UK, US, Germany etc. I am leaving out gear from Russia, I'm hoping to put that in a separate thread.
Ok, first lets take a look at organized bad guy units. With these loadouts it's ok to have matching tops, bottoms and gear.
1. Plain OD green or Coyote brown. It's looks good and there is plenty of options and makers out there .
2. Black. What screams bad guy more then black? Sure, you won't blend in the woods like your MC wearing opponents but you will still look bad ass!
Top it off with some form of cool head gear to make it stand apart from say a SWAT themed look, try a Beret or ski mask. (A note about the beret, avoid any kind of unit crests or flashes. This falls under the if you didn't earn it don't wear it school of thought)
3. Swiss Alpenflage.
This stuff is cool and can be found dirt cheap on Ebay, sure it's from a NATO country but it's not a very well known pattern and looks good on the field.
There is a couple styles of pants and tops, plus a heavy jacket with load carrying pockets sewed in, a sniper veil and attachment points for a backpack. There is helmet covers and caps out there and a rain poncho.
This use of a little known pattern can also apply to the Belgian uniforms.
4. Rothco funky camo.
Rothco is a company that makes some funky camo patterns and be found relativly cheap.
Rock the pink guys....just do it!
5. Tiger Stripe.
Unless you are playing in a NAM themed game rocking the tiger stripes as a bad guy is perfectly alright. There is several patterns, styles and makers out there but here is two basics.
6. Crazy mesh masks.
You guys have all seen those crazy mesh masks that are popping up everywhere and while I cringe when I see people wearing them as NATO players they a perfect for bad guy OP4 loadouts!
The unorganized rebel.
You can wear just about anything because the goal is to look mismatched. Jeans, cheesy track suits, Walmart style camo cargo pants all work.
You can also go on an Ebay hunt for a few Middle East style items like,
Afghan Peshwari wool hat
Perahun Tunban (Muslim man dress)
With the Afghan look a woodland BDU top over a man dress fits in well.
Top them off with a shemagh
Gear- you can use anything but for a good look try Russian webbing or vests or old ALICE style surplus from other nations. Chi Com chest rigs are cheap and easy to find.
Guns- You can use anything but try not to show up rocking your Navy Seal M4 clone, rock an AK, AUG, FA MAS, P90, FAL etc etc Drag out the strange stuff that sits at the back of your airsoft Armory!!!
Hope this helps!
