Well ladies, we have returned from our four days tour at Codename Thunder X. I had a blast yet again running with Norris and the 29th MEU wrecking crew, thank you again for the trip! We played on the all new Legacy paintball field in Lockport, where the staff worked long hours into the night trying to get the field ready. The first day was spent setting up camp, and if you know Rick this wasnt just throwing up some pop tents ;D. We also went on our first field recon, Legacy is being built on an old rock quarry and this led to some very interesting land features that you can see in the photo's. They dont have alot of structures built yet, they are focusing on campsites, the parking lots and safety issues first before they dive right in to field design.
The second day was more of the same, work on the campsite, welcoming the rest of the team, more recon and gear prep.
Day three, game day. We found out real quick that Legacy had set the field up from a paintball mindset, there were alot of choke points where the teams just sat and hammered at each other, throwing wave after wave of reinforcements into the fray. Right off the 29th found ourselves on the line holding a position with other US forces. Norris had an awesome tank kill, that thing echoed so bad when he hit it everyone in our lines started cheering....(which is funny cause the tanks starter went out, so in fact he really did kill the tank ) Then the infantry swarmed in, I'm not bragging but I lost count of how many I sent packing. I was mainly firing single shot and the grip of my M4 was red hot through my gloves. We were pulled out of the line after as the missions started flowing, leaving 1st and 2nd platoons to slug it out with the Cartel. We airdropped straight on the enemy base and took it, after scoring points we exfilled down the hill and proceeded to reek havok behind the lines since no US forces could make it past the choke points. We continued on with behind the line ops till end of play and returned to campsite to feast and be merry.
Day four, the missions began right off. Another suicide airdrop on the weapons facility and guess what, we held to the last man earning the mission points. The video I'll post up of the smoke filled building was this drop, including our medic yelling he was throwing a grenade forcing a couple of guys to run like girls...yeah he didn't have a grenade.
The missions rolled on throughout the day, I doubt there was any single team that scored as many points as we did, on either side.
I hope everyone enjoys the pics, I'll be posting more as I gather them from related websites. Of course the pics I post involve us, but for a view of the whole event, go look up Codename Thunder X on facebook.
