I recently upgraded my Ares G36CV blowback. here's a list of everything I put in the gearbox:
Poly-carbonate full metal teeth piston Aluminum piston head double o ring G36 cylinder head aluminum air nozzle SHS High Torque Motor Re-shimming job
Got everything in the gun, put back together and sunk back into the G36 body. Gun shoots, feeds, and the likes. But, on semi auto the first shot maybe great. straight dead on at about 400FPS, the second just rolls out of the barrel and goes maybe 40 feet. 3rd same thing, and so on and so on. Then, out of no where, maybe 30 bb's later a good one comes out 400FPS straight down range. on full auto, the gun seems to shoot fine. but every once in a while one bb may only go 40 feet. What's the issue here? I lubed everything? Maybe everything just needs time to get worked in?
Update: actually, I shot it again. I wouldn't even say 40 feet. Maybe only 30-25FT. Either way, it's acting up. The gun is blowback, and the gun won't even blowback anymore. I didn't upgrade the spring it has the stock spring in it still.

Hmm, how good is your air-seal? It could be something that simple. Did you take apart the hop-up any? That might be it.
On to the blow back problem: I'm pretty sure the Ares G36 has a small piece that sits on top of the piston that is attatched to the charging handle. So that when the piston cycles, the slide cycles with it. Maybe putting in the new piston caused the piece to no longer function properly? Or did you take it out?

I put in a new barrel so I may have messed up the hop-up or the nub in it. That's what Norris told me as well. As for the blowback, that piece is still there and moves properly, so i'm thinking the piston is just not compatible with the blowback function. oh well Thanks!
