I don't think dicks would get into sponsoring this kinda sport/hobby. It's not really known as a "family" geared activity in the public eye, like little league baseball or youth soccer and so on. I'm sure that the guns they sell are more than likely a ****ty version, compared to what an actual airsoft store sells, than what most of us want and use. I for one, would not trust the models from dicks or any other BB retailer. That's just me. You would get more out of sponsorship through a true airsoft retailer for the players and the event.
And just maybe I'm wrong on this, but its my opinion based on my involvement in this sport and knowing what places like that dierct their business towards. We can get tons of sponsorship from the airsoft world.
Just my two cents......

That's very true. Maybe we should organize a deligation to meet with them. Their mechandizing decisions aren't made locally, but they could put us in contact with those that do.

@ norris; I didn't refresh my screen from last night so I didn't see you post until I posted. I can't speak to the quality of their Game Face guns as I have never owned one, but you're right about most of them, just over-priced junk. As far as sponsorship, I wasn't necessarily reffering to a season long relationship, more like one or two of our bigger events per year. I don't see much if any help coming our way from any airsoft dedicated businesses. One sponsor at each of two events in as many years is nothing to get really excited about. I would really rather have support from sources that are more on target with our needs too, but we just don't have any here in our area.

Edge, I have some pretty good contacts to drum the sponsorship up. I've done one already for Isaac and got a few little goodies to raffle off at the end of the day. I think it was a hit. My contact is willing to provide stuff as long as he sees some return on his investment, which he did get some sales from it. He will send better stuff as time goes and he sees the sales. I spoke to the guys at Carolina airsoft when I was in Asheville and they seemed positive to additional sponsorship of WV events, I just need to contact them prior to the event. I also have spoken to crazy cro mag airsoft emporium, in person, and he too is on the slate for me to get some sponsorship in the future. All it would take is for a call to most airsoft retailers and they will more than likely work with us. It's advertisement for them in a direct sense. Isaac has FaW coming up in March and I plan to get some sponsorship for it as well.
