New to Charleston

Hey everyone,

I just started going to WVU institute of Technology in Mongomery WV, about 20 minutes away from Charleston. I've been airsofting for about 4+ years, and I'm looking for a team or a field to play at. I don't have a rifle or my vehicle at the moment, but I thought it might be a good idea to get some contacts in the area. I might even start a team out of my university if I can get enough people interested and if there are enough good fields in the area. I would be willing to travel about 2 hours out of Charleston max, in terms of fields. I play both CQB and field.

A little about my airsoft career: I started out with a Well M16, single shot spring rifle, and although it was the crappiest gun on the field, I still ended up having a blast, and I've been playing ever since. Among other guns, I've owned an ICS M4 RIS, a custom KWA M4, and an A&K SPR Mod0, the latter of which I still have. I generally run multicam and a light chest rig with mid-caps. The name of my game is speed and precision, which is where I got my nickname and Callsign, Hazard. I enjoy playing with people who have integrity and who call their hits.

I am a pretty experienced tech as far as V2/V3 gearboxes go. Don't have any of my tools down here at the moment, but if I were to join a team, I wouldn't mind being a tech.

I am only really available on weekends unless I have a lot of notice, given that I have classes.

If you know of any fields/shops in the area around Charleston, PLEASE let me know.

Check out the game threads for charleston have a game coming up soon. Plus there's a far amount of players in the charleston area. We play must of our local charleston games at little hewitts creek rd which is off of 119 south about 15 miles south of charleston. Welcome to the board.

Velcome. Closest shop to charleston is in Bridgeport Wv about 2 hours north on I79. Extreme airsoft, I haven't made it into here yet but plan to this week when I got to morgantown for work.

Hey I found that Dicks Sporting Goods has a few nice weapons. And im also from charleston but I live in saintalbans and if you want to make a team im sure I can get a few people to help out.

Yeah, I haven't ever bought an airsoft gun from a sporting goods store, and I never will. haha

Also, you guys should join the forum on MAAPR.com. Excellent community of players, and the sales listings are great. I would recommend some of you more experienced guys to check it out.

Anybody know of anywhere good to play around Beckley, WV? I find myself down there a lot. Also, hw many paintball fields are there in the area that allow airsoft?

I'm in Beckley and there aren't games down here. I play out 119 at LHC when there are games there. If you want to meet up or anything just swing in anytime. I'm here about 7 days a week

I tried a few times to talk to who ever is in charge at the Bville Dicks about airsoft products, but they didnt seem to be interested. I got the party line about policy everytime. Your store may be different, it never hurts to try.

Most guns from dicks, Walmart, and Dunhams are junk. Trust me I have blown a butt load of money just testing them out. The ignite black op m4 from Walmart is probly the best gun the stores have between them at $100. Most of the others have plastic mech boxes and if your a new player that doesn't know what your looking for then you will get the shaft from there's stores. Dunhams in Beckley has a couple cybergun a that aren't bad but the price of them is high. I can get them online shipped for less. But again you have to know what your looking at and for new players to spend $200 on a gun from dick and it break the first time they fire it cause plastic gears stripped will make it hard to get them to buy another gun and keep playing. One of the guys blood haze brought to op bel had his crossman ak die the third time he pulled the trigger from this very think. $225 from dicks.

Dick's carries both the Game Face AK & M4 made by Classic Army for $179. I think they make a pretty good gun. With sponsorship from a major retailer you get something much more valuable than door prizes. You get exposure, publicity, free, high profile promotion of your event, your sport & your club. If they check out our forum, do you think they'd sponsor us? Maybe we should just PM the valuable insights that we have to offer.

Or they will read these forums and say hey we aren't selling many guns cause the stuff we have are crap. Maybe get better guns and we can sell stuff. And the dicks down here in Beckley ain't got crap for aeg's. So I don't know what you have up that way.
