We seem to be having a serious problem lately with people deciding they can hunt our property without our permission. Weve had problem in the past with sabotage, trespassing, fence damage, and even arson. But lately these people seem to think they can come across from ripley and hunt on our lamd. Even within plain view of the house. My question for this community is what are our options for defense? I woild persue. Them and identofy them, problem is they have plenty of warning, and just flee before i can even reach the creek. I know such things are not a home defense situation and lethal force isnt allowed. Nlr is it called for. Hpwever what is the laws stance on warning shots? Sounds crazy but you pit a round even within 100 meters of someone and its a little unsetting. No we almost lost our entire property once due to people.lome this. So my question is what are oir options here for detereing these degenerates that are within the law?

Have you contacted the local DNR guys? I'm sure they have dealt with this before.
Also, have you tried game cameras to try and get some evidence on these guys?
Boards with nails work good for killing tires too. ;D

Castle doctrine dude. Get on an ATV and haul ass up there... guys on your property with a gun, all you have to say is he pointed it at you. Whats one of our rules? Dead men don't talk or something like that?

Not a bad idea I would however have this thread erased if you chose to go with that solution. Just in case ;D

A sign on the fence that reads: I just got back from ****in Iraq and I learned to make IEDs. So before you come over, think it all over before your ass is blown into the breeze.

Don't shoot at them. That could just result in the loss of YOUR freedoms. If you hit one of them, then it could end up being THEIR farm.
DNR is the best solution. I think they are dispatched through your local 911 just as any other law enforcement agency. They may even have an autocuff, (boot for the vehicle wheel), that you could fasten to their vehicle long after they are out of sight in the woods to keep them from leaving before DNR arrives. Just a thought.

A nice trick a neighbor of mine has used: if they are coming in on atvs, make a big net of barbed wire over a wide area, like a square foot for the holes or so. Make it on the ground, and then use a shovel to dig it into the dirt so it can't be seen. When an atv drives over this, it won't be going anywhere without wire cutters. And, since its on your property, its yours.

Until it causes them to wreck and get hurt on your property then they sue you.

If you have a clearly posted no trespassing sign up on one of the tree by your trap then they cant do anything but go to jail and look dumb as all get out.

No if a burgler hurts himself on your property he can sue you.

Hell, if YOU hurt a burglar on your property he can sue. If I were on the jury, he wouldn't get a damn thing, though.
