Hello, all! I am new to airsoft... have yet to choose a gun so far. Am looking at getting an Full Metal M4 with an RIS (not set on a manufacturer yet... was thinking about ICS, but their full metal guns with RISs are little over my budget... too bad KWA's cheapest M4 doesn't have an RIS). Anyway, I live on the eastern panhandle of WV, a bit north of Martinsburg. Anyone play near here? Any fields or anything near here? I'm 17 (for only about another month), and have been looking around, but it seems that the closest place is like an hour and a half drive from here. Any places you have hidden around under some rock? (Oh, and I have a brother that is just a bit younger than me, but he behaves himself... at least in public. Anyway, he is looking to get into airsoft as well). Also, are there any sort of airsoft clubs in the area (not necessarily teams, as I wouldn't really be able to make it to away games, particularly on Saturdays) that get together and shoot high-velocity plastic at each other? Thanks, I hope to be around for a while!

I think you are kind of in no mans land out there. If you want to play airsoft you are going to hafta drive, just a fact of life. But, honestly, driving to the events is half the fun. I highly suggest the ICS if you can afford it, you might check Ebay.
If not, go onto Evike.com and go to their matrix line up. There is a gun that my cousin got. 200 bucks, all metal with RIS and crane stock. His shot right at 370-380 (perfect for field guns). I wish I had picked one up, but their stock is limited, so check back often.
Good luck.

Driving to the events is half the fun you say? Lol... just getting my parents to drive me to something will be a trick I don't currently have a license (fricken' insurance costs), and even if I did they wouldn't let me drive my brother anywhere, so if something is an hour away, that'll be a problem... they don't even like the idea of airsoft in the first place ("too violent"), so that'll probably be most of the fun right there Anyway, as for getting one from Evike's Matrix line, I have read that they just basically rebrand JG, Kart, DBOY, JLS and CYMA guns... which I have heard that JG and DBOYs don't make the best of guns (honestly never used any, so can't tell from experience), and the other 3 I haven't heard much about... actually never heard of Kart or JLS. I'd sorta like to get a gun that is branded as the original manufacturer so that I know who I'm getting it from... But yea, $200 isn't bad. I'm thinking about upgrading whatever gun I get to a longer TBB, as well as getting a better hopup to improve accuracy. For a while there I had my heart set on getting an A&K SR25, but then I found out they were no longer being produced... since then I have decided to get an M4 to allow for CQB, then swap out for an inner and outter barrel for field.

Well, saying that E1, JG, etc are the same is a half truth. They are made in the same factory as I understand it, but they are made to different specs. Think of this way, a Cadillac and Chevy are made in the same building, but that doesnt mean they are the same.
I guess that Evike, asked specifically for their own brand (Matrix) and it is a Chinese gun. But, it is literally the nicest one I have seen. Another brand, CA, is also made in China and they are considered a great company, I own one actually as my DMR platform. I have also had a Kart m14 EBR (lemon, dont suggest them) and a JG (still going strong, its only 4 years old with no upgrades) and E1 is the same as the JG, E1 just makes sure all of theirs work.

Welcome. Some of us drive considerable distances regularly to play. Post it up.
