If you use propane instead of green gas what is the difference between with the performance and maintenance of the gun?

None, they are the same except green gas has silicon pre added into the mixture for proper lubrication. Most propane adapters have a silicon fill port so you just add it yourself. I personally use propane because it is much cheaper and is pretty much the exact same.

Okay so there is not that big of a difference except for the lubrication that is already in the green gas.

Don't forget that propane is a distilled petroleum product and inherently bad for rubber parts such as orings. If you are going to use it, you might want to switch all of your orings to teflon.
