November 9, 1989: The Berlin wall begins to fall, and the Iron curtain begins to crumble along with it.
August 1990: The United States launches Operation Desert Storm, and swiftly defeats the forces of Saddam Hussein.
October 1990: Germany is re-unified. It appears the mighty soviet empire, and the cold war, are coming to a close.
August 1991: Determined to stop the government and economic reforms of Gorbachev, Soviet hardliners stage a coup and seize control of the Soviet government. Gennady Yanayev is installed as the new president of the Soviet Union.
October 1991: Gorbachev is killed while fleeing soviet forces. The new government urges the soviet people to rejoice... the "traitor" has been killed.
January 1992: Still reeling from the collapsing economy, the war in Afghanistan, and the Chernobyl Disaster, the downward spiral of the Soviet economy continues. Word of unrest in the soviet union begins to slip through the iron curtain. the Soviets seem more and more aggressive and uncooperative with each passing week. Relations with the west begin to reach a new low.
March 1992: The Soviet Government suddenly becomes quiet. People begin to talk of another coup. Soviet Army units seem more active than normal, as do the navy. NATO forces are bolstered to counter this.
April 1, 1992: A clash on the Soviet and "fascist" German border ensues. The west scrambles to figure out exactly what happened. The Soviets insists that NATO stand aside while the soviets deal with the "fascist aggressor". Relations between the east and west are teetering on kinife's edge. The world holds its breath... and waits.
April 4, 1992: Soviet forces scream across the german border, attempting to drag it back behind the iron curtain. Full mobilization of NATO forces begins.
April 7, 1992: US 7th fleet engages and annihilates the the Soviet Northern Fleet in the Baltic Sea. After being crippled by a harpoon anti-ship missile, the Soviet flagship, the Kuznetsov, is shelled and destroyed by the USS New Jersey, while the Soviets frantically try to save the ship. Russian submarine forces go into hiding.
April 8, 1992: NATO forces are driven from East Germany by the soviet hordes. The US Airforce inflicts massive casualties on the Soviet forces while the American Army falls back to the Fulda Gap.
April 9, 1992: The Soviet Union launches a massive air attack to avenge the Northern Fleet. Considerable damage is inflicted but only a handful of ships are lost. US CAP and Point defense systems destroy over 70 soviet aircraft.
April 10, 1992: Soviet Spetznaz Infiltration units begin popping up and attacking American infrastructure. Attention is starting to be diverted to the homefront.
April 11, 1992: The Soviets launch a massive offensive. Artillery units begin shelling the fulda gap as the Soviet Army pours into the gap. Helicopter gunships, Airforce A10s, and American and German tanks units inflict massive casualties. The line holds.
April 15, 1992: As more and more infiltration units pop up in small American towns Russian Airborne units are flown in on false flag aircraft. hagerstown MD, and Shepherdstown WV are taken by Soviet forces.
April 21, 1992: In an unexpected move the soviet forces drive west instead of east. US forces in the DC area scramble to counterattack. Soviet Forces move with relative ease across the eastern panhandle. An massive soviet weapons cash is found in the Shenandoah valley... empty. Trace amounts of radiation are found. Other infiltration units continue to cause chaos and confusion around the east coast. Fierce fighting continues on the Fulda Gap, and across Europe.
April 30 1992: Soviet forces take Morgantown, and Clarksburg WV. The Pennsylvania National Guard sets up defense around Pittsburgh, As the West Virginia National Guard regroups in Charleston. The US considers pulling troops from Europe to defend the homeland.
May 5 1992: Just before a US army counterattack attempts to liberate Morgantown soviet forces are spotted outside Parkersburg WV. Morgantown is recaptures with zero resistance. US forces Find Route 50 and I79 destroyed. The heavy armored forces become bogged down.
May 13 1992: It is determined that soviet forces are advancing toward Chemical Valley. The US launches Operation Minuteman. NATO units are flown in to reinforce the WV National Guard.
May 14 1992: The WV National Guard, along with Regular Army and NATO units advances toward Parkersburg, and blocks I77 at mile marker 147 in an attempt to stop quick soviet advance.
May 15 1992: The soviet forces quickly and quietly try to move through the back roads and hills of Jackson county. They are spotted in the nick of time by elements of the 11th Engineer brigade as they were constructing fortifications and blocking roads. Units are pulled off of I77 to engage the soviets, as armed civilians flock from Ravenswood, Ripley, and Spencer to protect their homes, and repel the soviet invaders. The small community of Sandyville becomes a battlefield of World War III...
