Airsoft Restriction

I'm wanting to bring some lime light to airsoft in WV by getting the local media out to a game.... However, after watching this I imagine there could be some repercussions in the long run. In New Zealand Airsoft guns are not allowed to be Fully Automatic, if airsoft gets put in the spotlight for the wrong reasons and with the government the way it is nowadays, I can see this happening. Far fetched? Maybe, but still likely.

your not gonna do anything that they cant already see on the net.... so if you want to give them a video its not a big deal..

now if you give them a video of two punk' kids shooting each other in the face and breaking their teeth off and tht kind of stuff? well that might not help.

best word in this sport is word of mouth to the people who will actually play.

im in a plant with quite a few guys that have kids and several are "interested", got one set that even purchased guns now.

getting people out to a field is the next challenge. a couple of GOOD successful events with consistent play dates will help that along.

that stuff just takes time & effort.

I agree, I'm not planning on media anytime soon.... see Op BLACK STAR. I'm on this like white on rice, unless its brown, but I have a plan for everything I'm wanting to accomplish. Next big step in it is in 7 weeks when I EAS.

Why did he have to sound like I was watching Americas most wanted? If Airsoft is a sport where can I go to GET paid to play?

I guess what I'm getting at is do you all think Airsoft should become widely known or should it be kept at the publicity it is now?

I would like it to become more popular, not more infamous. I know there are a lot of people (myself included) who had never heard of it, but now completely love to play it. Also, if the general public knows about it and understands what it is. When tragedies like small kids getting shot by the police because they had a gun, the public will blame the parents for not teaching their children proper handling of the airsoft gun. So as I said, more public knowledge, not infamy.

I'm more for the word of mouth. But, It'll never be huge here. "Guns" that don't send lead down range are hard for people to accept around here. Not to mention, there are actually things for kids to do. In the winter the kids snowboard and in the summer they're in the woods and on the rivers. Probably the population and the fact that everyone is so spread out is what really hurts. I'm 2 hours from the closest group of airsofters that I know of. I wish it would get more popular. There are a lot of things too overcome though.

we're trying to get more fields little by little...

but the biggest block to the airsoft community is still the airsoft community.

just look at the "elitist" attitude we get from a lot of the "original airsofters" who feel that these new guys are "ruining their sport".

just had that pop up on another airsoft forum today. (but thats a different story)

I can think of a few airsofters on here that want to bitch about new kids that play. Next time they do and I'm around I'll have words with them. These new kids are what's making airsoft here in wv and before I let some"one" run off 10 new players. One for 10 is not a good trade off.

I've gotten around 8 guys at the trucking company I work at to purchase guns and set up games. Word of mouth is definitely the best way, but the thing that got these guys really exited was watching videos on Youtube "including the FAW video".
