Im looking to get away from sniping a bit maybe let my 18 y/o brother use my SR so we could increase our numbers a bit. preferably id like an M16-A1 with the pyramid handguard cause im going for a NAM' load-out but id suffice for an A2-A4 if i could find a compatible after-market pyramid handguard. also full metal would be a plus. most of the ones ive found have terrible reviews. My budget is $300 but id be willing to go to about $375 if the gun is worth it. anyone with any experience in the matter or who just generally knows about a good full metal m16 let me know. links appreciated. thanks in advance guys.

I would suggest either the G&G M16 A2-4 or the CA M16 X series in either A1 or A2-4 trim. Both are solid performers right out of the box. They are both around 270 bucks, all metal bodies, fairly solid internals. I have replaced the piston in both, but that is usually pretty standard. If you want a strict Vietnam style, go with the CA. If you want the A2 then either will work. I have had my G&G for 2 years, still going strong. I got the CA for Christmas and have turned it into a DMR. If you do go the A2 route, you could always put a 203 on it. Then it would be good for Vietnam and modern day.
Oh and the G&G shot 360-370 stock, the new CAs are right at 390 in the X series. If I was going to buy another one, I would get the CA because it has a functional bolt catch and makes adjusting the hop up easier.

They are both TM V2 gearbox style. Parts are standard for both. They both have metal bodies, plastic parts (like real steel), about the same stock range. It is up to you in what you want.

Yeah, CA calls their M16 line the M15 to get around copy rights, but its the same thing.

Honestly if your budget is that high you may want to just go with a TM M16a1. They generally run about 300 bucks or less and are AMAZING out of the box. I would guarantee that it would outperform and outlast the CA any day of the week. Stock it will shoot somewhere around 280 but you will clear 150 - 170 round shots stock with no problems.

While I'll agree that Marui guns shoot well out of the box, I can in no way ever recommend an M16 from them to anyone. The way in which their receivers break and the barrel wobble that sets on from almost first use is nothing less than ridiculous. Not to mention that a replacement hopup chamber is an easy to install piece of equipment, and King Arms and Prometheus chambers are 1 piece design (Which is better) and honestly, more effective than the Marui ones in the first place.
Buying a CA or G&P or G&G (and a new chamber if the accuracy isn't good enough for you) is cheaper than buying a new Marui and having to deal with the flimsy plastic body. I'm not saying "GET A METAL GUN BECAUSE IT'S METAL", because the plastic G&G uses on their gun bodies is amazing in comparison. I'm just saying avoid Marui M16s and M4s, honestly. Their AKs, AUGs, M14s, etc., are amazing. The M4s and such, though... The terrible body far outweighs the advantages.

Well Jonah is going to disagree with you. However since this gun is going to go to a younger guy I suggested the G&G/CA (Although didnt think about G&P) because they do have the metal body and are more substantial then plastic. He is probably going to be more hard charging then older players. Also because of the price range those are both good companies that will meet his needs.

Cows I am gonna disagree with you 100%. The trade of in quality and performance you get by dropping from a Marui to a G&G is pretty ridiculous. Ultimately it will be your decision but my 16a1 is solid and outperformed any gun on the field the day I used it. Also my Marui M4 (plastic body) may not be metal bodied but is every bit as solid as my CA m15a4 RIS.

Perhaps you should tell that to the lightly used Marui M4 I used to have that disintegrated even with being treated well. It got sold off for 75 bucks after being trash, YEARS ago. The other Marui guns I've had have been fine. I even have an ancient Marui AK47 where, while the body is pretty badly busted up (front sight missing, rather creaky), it's still over 7 years old and functions if i want it to. My G3SAS does the same... But the M4 I had was crap from the moment I got it.

ya through hours of research im still feeling the CA a1 the reviews ive found are nothing but gold. metal where the metal should be abs/nylon where the "plastic" should be. preformance out of the box (which is essential to me dropping about 400 on this kit all at once so ill ive time to recooperate) grade upgrade potential. i could certainly handle a plastic body as i am a gun enthusiast and own over 400 real steal weapons myself but i want the neglegance that one can have with a full metal gun. the ability to put within reason the safety of the gun on the back burner to further concentrate on tactics and such. love the AR logos tho some colt decals are definatly in my future. thanks for the collaberation though gentlemen i honor everyones opinion and appreciate even getting the time of day.
