I really feel like it has more to do with alarmed nonairsofters and authorities.

We have lots of tourists in the summer ...kids on top of kids. If you got out of your car at a place you never been and some guy has an ak and its maybe pointed in the direction of your kid,,,what would you do??? handgun against an ak is a death sentence, but when it comes to my kid i would take the shot. maybe its worth your life not to have an orange tip,but it may be someone else that gets hit. We have lots of off duty police and their familys come here. Not everyone will read my entire site to see that we have an airsoft field here so it may come as a surprise to them. for now, orange tip till we get the other field open and even then it may not be up to me...the insurance company will have final say

Regardless, I don't think someone carying a handgun is going to open fire on anyone that he really thinks is carying an AK or a M4, etc. I would, but that's because I'm BA. In other news, why does this come to fruition after I sign another 5 years away? Only 1775 days left.....

Already discussed on page one. I'm sure things will get ironed out.

I have high hopes for this field and I really want to thank you farmerjoe for coming to the player base community and discussing the field with us. That alone will help you gain a good player base and get an idea of how the game works.
If it were me I would first do some research on other fields around the country and get a base idea on how they run the facility. This means size, ammo types, fps limits...etc. Then, once you have done as much research as your brain can handle without exploding and you have talked to the player base; I would give my ideas to the insurance company and see how it goes from there.
The most important things are safety, area of play, fees and what products to sell. As stated above ammo is a big issue if it must be bought at the field (makes sense, got to make money to keep it going and make a profit) as well as the orange tip issue. I would recommend that everyone must keep their weapons in a gun case or use bright colored barrel condom until they enter the area of play. If that is not possible then I am sure a blast of paint can fix any issues with this. Other fields have this regulation as well so it can grow on us.
Like I said, much needed research will need to go into play before getting back with your insurance company to make solid decisions.

Seems that everyone is up in arms over some issues that are beyond my control. I have thought it over and at this time, I dont think we can have a field that will be up to your standards. Many hours have gone into trying to make this happen and i have two choices..I can have a field the way that the players want....no orange tip , heavy ammo and ammo thats not bought here and no insurance coverage. Or i can have insurance and no players. I figured that if i kept the safety issues small by slower FPS , smaller ammo and other things, we had a better chance of actually getting this up and running. Only choice i see at this time is to pull the plug and not get everyone excited about a field thats not what they expect. Thanks for all your input

Well, I'll leave you with these thoughts farmerjoe. THe orange tip is not a big deal. But, airsofters do not rely on orange tips as a safety measure when it comes to the public. Keeping the public informed of what is taking place and keeping the gun in a controlled and proper setting trumps an orange tip. Nobody is saying they wouldn't throw some tape on. BB wieght is only part of the equation when figuring meds and safety. A .12 at 400fps is roughly the same as a .2 at 350-360. It's all about force. Wieght and speed have to be figured. Not just weight or speed by themselves. Nobody is up in arms. We're really just asking basic questions. Geez, got me all excited for nothing....Good luck with whatever you do farmerjoe.

Farmerjoe, Everyone here would like to see this work out and as Rig pointed out we are just asking basic questions. We are trying to help you with this and I'm guessing you lack basic knowledge of how organized airsoft works and thats not your fault nor is it meant as an insult. As a previous poster put, do some research on the sport and on how sites across the country are ran and you will see what we are pointing out. Good luck and sorry it didn't work out.

Thanks for all your input I wouldnt pull the plug just yet........what everyone is doing is asking or informing you of what they know about other legitimate airsoft venues, which are insured, that they have experienced. The initial rules you posted dont seem to be what the other venues are posting as "official" rules of the field, therefore you get the questions or concerns that your getting now, thats all. By no means is anyone trying to stear you away from opening a great airsoft venue for the local scene, my god we all know how important it is to us, and provide a good solid place for organized skirmishes or event scenarios. The two times I have been out with the WV guys, the same conversation always seemed to make its way out, and that is where else can we go to do what we do? As of right now, it seems this state is massively limited as to where we can go and play around with this kick ass hobby. If the orange tip is a rule you put in place, I personally have no problem wrapping a little tape on my muzzle to meet the requirement. If my memory serves me correct, the rule is 3/4" is to be orange. I have been to LARGE scale fields that require your guns to be transported into the confines of the field/staging area in a gun case, hard or soft, and that seemed ok with everyone. My .02cents............

Plus my posts were efforts to fish for info involving our safety rather then complaints over putting tape on my gun.

i think what everyone is trying to say farmer joe is that the rules may not be compfotable for everybody on the forum but you will have the only legit field up and running so anybody with a problem will shut up and deal with it if they wanna play. i know the group of about 10+ people i take to some of the events will not have a problem with any rules you put up there. simply put man: YOUR FIELD, YOUR RULES, END OF STORY. do what ever you need to be successful. i assure you, you'll have plenty of business from our growing airsoft community
