Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm motivated to play this game again. I noticed the lack of games this summer has seemed to drop some people from our list (Which really sucks, guys), but let's remedy that now.
I'm back in more than a "I'll be at games capacity" for now. I'll host two games in November, and I'd like to make sure people are aware of that, and know that we should hopefully have a single game in December, January, and start up to 2 a month in February again.
We've all had a rough year, we've been busy, etc. We say this EVERY year - But we have to make it happen this time, guys. I'm glad Dan and Zombie hosted Bel this year, I'm happy that Mr U had Damocles (Though I'm pissed at the turnout - NOT HIS FAULT - A lot of people dicked him on that, but we had fun anyway), and I'm always happy with Factions at War, which was fantastic this year.
So let's build on that. We had some good games this year - Just not enough. People don't seem to talk about anything anymore. We have a community and it doesn't work if people are constantly silent.
Speak up, guys. Let us know everyone is still around. We have a game next month, tell your friends if they play. Get that attendance up, help us grow the sport again.

well i would like to host another game in the spring. i really like the boy scout camp for games. it sucks we cant get the whole camp but there are still alot of great places there to play. now for the bad news. i now live in beckley wv and dont know anyone down here that plays. ill have to go by elevation sports here and talk to those guys. they carry echo 1 and classic army guns and maybe know where guys play around here. im opening up a gas station down here3 and getting out of the bar business and across the road from my station is an old paintball field that ill catch the owner out one day and try to talk to him asbout letting us use it. one bad thing is beckley is 1.5 hours from huntington but ony 45 minutes from charleston.

I'd love to read what you have to say, though, Ultra. Keep trying.

Are you motivated enough to take my place on the board? I think I'm pretty much done with it. Might try and play a little in the spring. Probably end up selling my stuff though.

Norris and I have been talking about the field and hosting future events. He just donated 250 sand bags for use on the field... which is a lot of sand bags... and thus a lot of fortifications. Right now I'm working on in house transportation for the field. I also just found out today he secured a sponsorship for a future event he has in the works. I also want to regularly host open plays and such, to get some people up here. As I said before, we have all kinds of building materials, with the space and ability to do it. Yet every time its brought up, my field gets brushed to the side and the discussion is dropped because there are no "suitable" fields. Then we go another year with barely any airsoft. I've been apart of this community longer than most of the people on here... there are very few exceptions. I'm ready to be taken seriously. As it stands you have 1 reliable centralized field. Thats LHC. Thats it. Thats all. Other than that, theres here. I dunno about the rest of you but playing knee deep in Oprah's ass isn't as fun 12 months out of the year. (Though I will admit the back side of the field, rather than the bowl, is quite refreshing). The field is here. Its not going anywhere. I'm not going to ignore your phone calls, jack up prices, or make you wear masks after you show up. Central or not, its here, its gigantic, and its going to be built on. The way I see it we can have 3 of these discussions a year about building a place but that will get you no where. Everyone can sit and wait for some dream field to appear in the middle of downtown charleston (Even though part of me is hoping for the towncenter) or they can get out of the backyard and start having an open mind. You don't get to shoot those Ohio fashion show queens anywhere else anyway. And on another note:

I have drawn up 18 missions for cody's field and am now working on the 18 counter missions for the OpFor. I have also begun to construct some props for the missions which will become physical objectives on the field. The scenario will be fairly long which will make for a FULL day of play on the field. There will be point values for missions/counter missions, rules for the safety of players, waivers, and even a raffle at the end of the event for the participants. I have secured one sponsor already that said he would donate some cool gear for the raffle.
If anyone has suggestions on the type of play that they would like to see, let me know. I want to help get this hobby along here in WV by creating motivation with some of my own experiences in airsoft. The more ideas the better. Lets see what you got and make some **** happen.
Also, anyone wanting to help out in building props, designing missions or scenarios, I live in Culloden (between Hurricane and Milton).

Would love to come play at ur field Cost. The last one u did just had to many restrictions on gear and guns for me.. I more of the modern look and magpul m4. Didn't really feel like pulling the magpul back of of my gun for 1 game.. but then again I don't complain bout not having a place to play. I go to raiders and Chillicothe games every month. I live in pt. Pleasant, so ur place is what 30 mins or so away.. prob see ya if u do a open or reg event without the limits..

More of an open format for the uniforms, loadouts, weapons and such. The community is too small for those types of restrictions and causes a low turnout number. I am working with him to create a "MilSim" structured event with a "Green vs Tan" and some really cool surprises. Hopefully this will generate some excitement and help build the community. His field is huge and available, all that needs to happen is get the players on it. Its gonna take all of us to build it.

CODY/mr.U/SPectre...
ok bud will be totally honest with you here.
ive had fun when we played events together, your cool to have on a team or play a match with.
have heard only nice things about your field.
none of that has anything to do with getting the average person to your game.
like Snakey, im not that far away from your field, you just had too many requirements/restrictions for me or anyone i could bring.
while i do have different guns for different scenarios, lots of people dont & dont want to change their set up.
wouldnt alter my guns to participate. if what ive got wont work.... then i play somewhere else.
theres nothing wrong with what you want in your games.... its your choice, your field, your rules.
but if you really want to pick some people up on a regular basis you have to get them hooked on your field before you run "tight" games.
maybe an open play every now and then?
you've mentioned that your mainly interested in the types of games you ran last time.
thats all great, but it wont get much attendance where your located and it wont pull in many new or few timers.

Well Cows, I really don't have any big bombs of wisdom to drop here. This state and our surrounding areas have had these problems for as long as I remember. I guess maybe you can chalk it up to the demographics of the area compared to upper regions of Ohio as to why airsoft thrived there and not here. In our region, most of us work craptastic service or retail jobs which make us jump through hoops for weekends off and alot of us end up unemployed and can't afford to play. I read the other day that this state in a national survey ranks near the top of the list for homes without internet connections and as we all know airsoft has always been a web driven hobby. This severely hurts us, but there is no way for us to fix any of these large scale problems.
All that we can do is press on and hope that the game takes root with more people. The site is stable now and seems to be doing good, we keep up efforts to find/fix up playing sites and do our best to hold on to the small roster of players and keep them interested. One thing I tip my hat to Cows and Saac (if I left out anyone sorry) is how they always try to round up people for after game food. I know alot of times players have to roll out due to other commitments, but its cool just hanging out with other players and b.s.ing about stuff. It's sometimes hard to forge friendships on the field or over these forums.
I do think our presence on Facebook and other social networking sites needs to expand, not so much as an organization but maybe from individual efforts. The kids are using these sites more then forums these days. I was shocked at how many people Kool Aid gets at his games from FB. ( In fact- Kool Aid...where are you?)
Like I said, no real fixes here. We just gotta keep rolling on.

Spectre-
like I said before bub, you gotta market yourself and your field for events to take hold. It's like eating somewhere new, you could but, ehh I'm not convinced and go to where I'm used to.
I'd take the time and prepare a nice selection of photos of your land and any airsoft related attractions on it. Maybe drag some friends up for some posed pics looking cool and like they are having fun. In game pics are better, but we all know as an organizer its hard to also be a camera man. I'd keep these updated on a locked thread on this board, maybe under the moniker "places to play" and when you post games link people to the pic thread for a look at the field. I'm not sure if AO has this kind of area, but I'm sure they can work with you. Thats one thing I've noticed on your threads is lack of visual representation of your field.
Oh yeah, did you post this last game over on the Kentucky board? Last I checked they had quite a few Cold War guys over there, just a thought.
