Anyone know if it is the AK47 or AK74u model ? I purchaced 4 "Echo Dogs of War" AK47 mags but idk if they will fit (i'll let ya know when I get them). I just can not find any information on what mags fit well with it.
Also anyone know of a lower spring that would fit it ? It clocks in at a midium of 425 FPS which is a little to high for a lot of places (most) and I need to lower it down to a maximum of 400 FPS.
EDIT: Also know this is the newest 048 model being the AKM.

Well, Im not the most knowledgeable on AKs, but they look like they are the same. It says on AirsoftGI, that some AK Mags will not fit. So its really hard to tell.

Yeah, The only mags that even say somethign abiut being Cyma compatible is the AK74u mags but I believe the new model used AK47 who knows. If they don't fit i'll just craigs list em for 15bux a piece thats like 3ish dollars cheaper per mag lol.

can help ya a little there....
CYMA is using the cm048 number on both of these but most of the stores are using the same number for the 47 & the 74... the "M" is supposed to be the 47 version.
its that way at airsoftmegastore & evike.... so if you order from them you better do it over the phone and specify that you want the 47 model.
the mags for the 47s are different than the 74's.
you can "make" them work.... but why would you want to on a brand new gun?
now with that said:
the CYMA haters will jump in and start the junk chant...
and some of them are.
just look thru the factory's that make the guns and see who really makes what.. it will surprise you.
they make quite a few of the different brands you buy with just different logo's.
ask anyone from ruins raiders who's played near me. my $99 cmo28 has way way over 50,000 rounds thru it now and still chrono'd at 376 this past week. all it does is run.
same for Snakey who has the fancy trademarked kalish version in the cm046 with real wood... it shoots about 380ish and runs like a top.
$184 for the cmo48m in real laminate wood and all steel is not a bad deal for anyone. so grab a power drum for $45 and enjoy!
now if you wanted to wait and drop $350ish on the KWA? well that is a different story. :-)

Ya, I did a lot of research before purchasing the gun. I saw a lot of Cyma junk reviews and horror stories but with the reviews on the CM028 and 048/048M made it a steal deal. A little fine tuning/oiling and the gun is good to go. I just need to lower the FPS a bit which takes a less tentioned spring but im not sure where to find one that fits it perfectly.
I am just getting into the sport and wanted to budget my gear limit so I didnt want to drop 300+ on a gun before i got to play. Im glad you said the M was the 47 version. Makes my decision in buying the 47 mags more comforting. It comes with a 600 round HiCap but i prefer the midcaps unless im using a drum.
If you can link me to a good drum (preferably metal) that is reliable and not going to break for a good price I would appreciate it. ;D

The problem with springs is the same spring in two different guns, but the same make and model can get different fps. I would suggest a modify m110 (360) or a stystema m120 (380) fps. My G&G m16 has an m110 in it and its at 370. In my ICS I have a 120 and its at 330 (really bad compression).

I want something at the 360-400 range perferably 380-400 considering the stock of the 048 can only hold a 8.4v so with a lower ROF than most 9.6v user leaves me limited to getting a higher FPS.

Well those springs I mentioned are probably your best bet. They should get you in that range. Also, you could go to a Lipo. A 7.4v 15C will be like a 9.6 and should still fit.

the 48m they are "advertising" as 456fps is with 12 grams...
Snakeys gun was also advertised this way... put 20's in it after relaxing the spring for a couple of days and it has chrono'd in the 380's both times and 79 stang there chrono'd it the first time.
so unless you chrono it & are too hot then dont open it up.
as a foot note: Snakey and me both run 11.1 LIPO's on these with no trouble...
im using an ECHO1/matrix power drum that runs on 3 AA batterys. its all steel holds 3500 bb's and its had no trouble at all... ($45 at evike...)
if your in Htown we can hook up and show you what we mean on the spring relaxing. :-)

Awesome, glad to have some AK enthusiest around when you need em. I have not personally Chrono'd it but I run .25 instead of .20 so it might already be around the needed FPS. I will try and get it into the Chrono this weekend if I can and I'll let you know what it comes out to.
What is "relaxing the spring" and the drum mag is an amazing looking deal. I feel I know what I am getting next for my AK lol.

Most milsim game will not allow drum mags for weapons other than support weapons. Just something to think about.

Dan is correct that if your gonna do the "milsim" games, they dont like drums....
which is silly. none of their guns or their pistols are ammo count correct.
most of the milsim guys still use mags with way more than "real capacity" unless your playing an actual ammo count game. which is pretty rare.
heres the main thing for that:
if your playing an ammo count game? DONT TAKE AN AK! LOL
the AK with the drum is perfect for OPEN PLAY games and it fits that all important requirement of looking correct.
trust me on this one, as a guy who has dozens of "real AK's" (ALL with drums)

The thing with ammo is that Airsoft is no where as accurate as RS. The idea is the time it takes for you to hit a target is 3-4 bbs compared to one shot within 150-200 ft. Anything over that, the ratio sky rockets with the max range only being 250 ft with a really nodded gun. Thus the 120 rd midcap.
Open plays allow for anything you want. I once ran my m16 with 203 and a 5000 rd box mag.
Also Koolaid, just because you use .25s, doesn't mean you will not hafta meet chrono with .2s. This allows people not to cheat the system with .2s being standard.

Ah I forgot that standard Chrono is used with .2s i'll try and have everything fined tuned and ready for most matches. I just need to learn what SDK means by relaxing the spring. As long as it is maxing at 380-400 FPS then I am in the clear.
I only own one HiCap mag the rest are all MidCap. I just want a drum mag for open play and local mini matches with my friends/team. I just opened the gun today and did some test fires with .25s and I am very pleased with the CM048M good quality AK for the price.
Distance is great as well as the accuracy. It seems to work better on full auto than semi but I suppose what is the point of an AK without full auto in the first place lol. Also I appreciate everyone's advice, glad to have experienced players around to keep me on track.

Kool Aid: shoot it on FA and leave it setting on FA when your done for a couple of days...
this keeps the spring pressed a little and will drop your FPS down some.
seriously its that easy. Snakey and me didnt believe this and called Bull**** on it... then we checked it out and sure enough it does work!
then later on in life you'll always want to shoot a couple of shots on semi before you put the gun away to "save" your spring.
